The geographical conditions and the location of the main Brazilian reservoirs, notably the giant pre-salt fields, constitute an environment of particular use for FPSOs, due to several specific aspects, for which these units have significant advantages over other types of offshore oil and gas production installations.

Therefore, despite already having the most significant number of FPSOs in operation, for many years out of all international sedimentary basins, there still are accurate projections as to the entry of many other units into production in the short term future.

Based on this scenario, the Society of Petroleum Engineers of Brazil – SPE, through its Brazil and Macae Sessions, will hold the FPSOs – Floating Production and Storage Units symposium to bring together professionals from different areas involved for a broad exchange of experience, shared learning and integration of multidisciplinary knowledge, essential for the consolidation of the large chain of design, management and operation of these units, absolutely needed to the country in the coming years.
