Applying Digital Transformation in the Oil and Gas Industry – The Holistic approach for Well Construction and Production Operation.

During the last 20 years, there has been a paradigm shift with the development of digital technology that is changing the way we operate our physical assets. The Oil and Gas industry has commenced its own Digital Transformation, with the increasing use of emerging digital technologies, such as the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Big Data Analytics, to enhance the Exploration and Production lifecycle. This session will focus on Digital Solutions applied to Well Construction and Production Operations.

 

Panelists:

·         Leonardo Machado – Digital Solutions for Production

o   Leonardo Machado is a Chemical Engineer graduated with a Master in Petroleum Engineering at UERJ, MBA in Management at FGV and Data Science Specialization at MIT.

o   +18 years of experience in the O&G Industry in  international projects at Brazil, Colombia and Abu Dahbi developing Digital Oilfield solutions for Production Monitoring, Surveillance and Optimization with a solid technical background helping our customers to solve the challenges of the E&P business, automating and optimizing the Production processes.

o   At the moment Leonardo is involved in initiatives of Digital Transformation of the O&G Industry designing solutions of "Digital Twin" using emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics.

 

·         Helton de Paula – Digital Solutions for Well Construction

o   Helton de Paula is a Petroleum Engineer graduated from the University of São Paulo – Escola Politécnica with MBA in Business Management from FGV – Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

o   +12 years of experience in the O&G Industry, all of them in drilling operations across different countries (Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil and Qatar) in challenging scenarios (ultra HPHT wells, ERW and deepwater pre-salt wells). With extensive experience in real-time monitoring onshore, offshore and inside real-time centers, he helped optimize drilling performance engineering problems through BHA design, drillstring vibration mitigation and hydraulics management.

o   At present moment, Helton is focused on applying emerging digital technologies in O&G to increase reliability and improve performance for well design and in drilling automation initiatives.
