Panel 1: “Challenges and Opportunities in Cross Border Transactions for Young Practitioners”


  • John Friedhoff: John has been a Board Certified Specialist in International Law for 20 years, and also AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbel for almost 20 years as well. He served as Vice President of the Central- American Chamber of Commerce and also as President of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce. John Freidhoof is specialized on International, Intelectual Property and Entertainment Law.
  • Luis Martinez (AAA-ICDR): Luis M. Martinez is Vice President of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the international division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). He also serves as Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) International Arbitration Committee.”
  • John Rooney (Miami Law):  John Rooney is an International Neutral Arbitration and the former vice president and general counsel of two insurance corporations. Also, he teaches in the International Arbitration LL.M and is the coach of the Miami Law’s International Moot Court program.
  • Thayane Machin Martinez: Thayane Martinez is an associate in the Global Commercial Disputes Group in Reed Smith and member of the firm’s Global Commercial Disputes. She obtained J.D. and an LL.M in International Arbitration from Miami School of Law.
  • Bruno Canal (Moderator): Bruno Canal, MCIArb, is a lawyer at Selma Lemes Advogados, law firm founded by the coauthor of the Brazilian Arbitration Act. He is President of the CIArb Brazil Branch Young Members Group. Bruno concentrate his practices on International and Domestic Commercial Arbitration.


Panel 2: “How young lawyers navigate the mix of common law and civil law procedures and practices in International Commercial Arbitration”.


  • Marcio Vasconcellos: Marcio Vasconcellos is a senior associate at King & Spalding, located in New York. His focuses on in international commercial arbitration and investor-State arbitration.
  • Eduardo Palmer: Eduardo Palmer sits primarily as an international arbitrator in commercial and investor-state disputes. He also teaches international commercial arbitration as an adjunct professor at FIU College of Law.
  • Mauricio Gomm: Gomm Arbitration, CIArb C.Arb, Independent Arbitrator, Mediator accredited by CeDR, and Adjunct Professor of Law, University of Miami.
  • Ava Borrasso (CIArb NAB) : Ava Borrasso is an International Arbitration specialized in commercial and business arbitration. She is a panel member of the ICDR and the AAA complex and commercial panels, BVI IAC, CIArb Presidential Panel, Court of Arbitration for Art, ICC listed and LCIA member. She also stablished Borrasso Arbitration & DR in 2015 and is hartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.  She is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of CIArb’s North America Branch.
  • Enrique Molina (Moderator): Enrique Molina is Legal Counsel, Investment Manager and International Arbitration Attorney  at White & Case LLP. Also specialized in investment and public International law.The in-person event scheduled for September 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM (Miami Time) at the King & Spalding LLP, Southeast Financial Center, 200 S Biscayne Boulevard, Suite 4700, Miami, FL 33131
