The MBE SIG is proud to bring two female experts to this International Women's Day webinar to discuss how phones affect students' attention, learning, and mental health. Dr. Cynthia Nebel and Dr. Sarah Oberle will address the issue and share their insights with the participants through a panel discussion.
SPEAKERS:
** Cindy received her PhD in Experimental Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis and has worked as the Assistant Chair of Psychology at Lindenwood University, Associate Professor of Psychology at Washburn University, and Senior Lecturer at Vanderbilt University. Cindy has broad interests in human learning and memory and applying cognitive concepts to improve education. Her research program is designed to answer questions such as: How can retrieval practice be designed in a way that is efficient for instructors and learners? What factors affect the types of strategies students use when studying? And, do different learning strategies provide more benefits for certain types of learners? In her spare time, Cindy enjoys reading young adult fiction, swing dancing, hiking, and spending time with her husband and three children.
** Sarah Oberle is a seasoned educator, researcher, and presenter with extensive experience in primary education. With a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a concentration in Cognitive Sciences, she brings a wealth of knowledge in both teaching and learning to her work, with a particular focus on leveraging science of learning to improve educational practices and student outcomes.
