Covid-19 and Climate Change: Lessons Learned

10 jun - 2020 • 13:00 > 14:00

Evento Online

Descrição

The coronavirus outbreak has deeply impacted our world. Its great effects on health, businesses, and society as a whole is unprecedented. However, it’s important for us to take a closer look at its relations with Climate Change. Not only may the outbreak be related to Climate Change, but also the measures taken to mitigate the crisis seem to have positive consequences on the environment. Lockdowns, social distancing and isolation mean fewer cars and buses on the streets and many industries have slowed down or stopped their production altogether. We believe there are many lessons to be learned from this scenario. Governments around the globe took drastic measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus and they seem to be working. Climate Change is just as an urgent question as this pandemic is. Maybe, for Climate Change, we too need to try to “flatten the curve”. Will the efforts to rebuild a global economy increase pollution and gas emissions when the pandemic is over?

Join us on June 10th to discuss this and more!

The event will be moderate by Jane K. Aparecido, Ohio State University - Brazil Gateway and Professor Luiz Eduardo Krünger, UniEvangélica International Affairs.

ATTENTION the event will be on Jun 10 at noon (ET) / 1pm (Brasília)
